Roster cuts start for Vikings, key dates

The Minnesota Vikings are starting the process of getting down to 53 plays by Saturday’s 3 p.m. Central deadline.

The Minnesota Vikings are working their way down from 75 players to the NFL-mandated 53 players by the 3 p.m. Central Saturday deadline.

Cuts are coming in from various sources and we’ll track them here until they are down to 53 players. Even after they reach 53 players, there is a good possibility players that were released from other teams could be added, especially at a position like offensive line, where the Vikings’ depth is relatively inexperienced.

Other key dates are listed below the list of players reportedly being released, some of which we've confirmed or first reported.

FORMER VIKINGS AROUND THE NFL

Regarding other former Vikings, the New England Patriots have signed former Vikings CB Justin Coleman. The undrafted rookie was released in the roster cutdown to 75 players earlier this week. The Patriots also waived WR DaVaris Daniels, who was also with the Vikings this offseason.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released LB Larry Dean, who was with the Vikings before the Mike Zimmer era.
