With Charles Johnson and Xavier Rhodes both leaving with injuries in the first half of Sunday’s 31-14 win over the San Diego Chargers, the Minnesota Vikings had plenty of opportunities for backups to see playing time.
With Johnson out, Adam Thielen got 28 snaps on offense and Cordarrelle Patterson had 14. Both of those were the most this season for those backup wide receivers.
Rookie cornerback Trae Waynes saw his first action of the season and it was extensive. Filling in for Rhodes, who is in the concussion protocol, Waynes got 42 snaps on defense.
The rest of the defensive rotation remained intact on the front seven. Brian Robison and Anthony Barr each had 62 snaps, and Everson Griffen played 61 of the 74 defensive snaps, but many of the others up front had a healthy rotation.
On the defensive line, Sharrif Floyd played 49 snaps, Linval Joseph 41, Tom Johnson 36, Scott Crichton had a career-high 25, and Shamar Stephen had 20.
At linebacker, after Barr it was rookie Eric Kendricks getting 40 snaps and Gerald Hodges 37, and Chad Greenway making the most of his 19 snaps with a 91-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Here are the rest of the snaps from Sunday’s Week 3 win:
