Griffen, Johnson inactive for Minnesota Vikings; Diggs to start

DE Everson Griffen was a late scratch for Sunday’s game with an illness, joining WR Charles Johnson on the inactive list.

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen is inactive with an illness against the Kansas City Chiefs. Griffen leads the Vikings with three sacks. Nobody else has more than one.

Starting receiver Charles Johnson is also inactive Sunday after being listed as questionable on Friday with a rib injury. Also inactive for the Vikings are QB Taylor Heinicke, CB Jabari Price, C Nick Easton, TE Chase Ford and DE Justin Trattou.

All five of the Vikings’ other receivers, including Mike Wallace (knee) and Jarius Wright (hand), both listed as probable, are active. That includes rookie Stefon Diggs, who made his NFL debut in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos and caught six passes for a team-high 87 yards.

Diggs will start in place of Johnson and rookie Danielle Hunter will replace Griffen.

Safety Andrew Sendejo, dealing with a knee injury, is active.

The Chiefs had already ruled out NT Dontari Poe on Friday, along with LB Josh Mauga.

LB Tamba Hali (knee) is active for Kansas City after being listed as questionable. All other Chiefs were listed on Friday’s injury report as probable, including TE Travis Kelce, and are playing.
