Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is active against the Detroit Lions and expected to start after being downgraded to questionable on the injury report Saturday with illness.
Peterson had been listed as probable on Friday, meaning he was a virtual certainty to play, with a finger injury sustained last Sunday. But when he showed up ill on Saturday, the Vikings made the adjustment to the injury report, as required by NFL rules.
Last week, the Vikings deactivated DE Everson Griffen when he was ill on Sunday morning, but that came as a surprise Sunday morning announcement. He ended up going to Hennepin County Medical Center for tests before the game and only arrived home to watch about the final five minutes of his team's 16-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Peterson's situation is different since he became ill on Saturday, not Sunday morning.
DT Sharrif Floyd and DE Justin Trattou were declared out with injuries on Friday. In addition to them, the Vikings made QB Taylor Heinicke, CB Jabari Price, C Nick Easton, T Jeremiah Sirles and TE Chase Ford inactive.
That means all six of the Vikings' wide receivers are active, the first time this season they have had that many receivers active. Rookie Stefon Diggs is starting in place of Charles Johnson, who was out the last two games with a rib injury.
