Minnesota Vikings promote Brandon Watts in series of moves

The Minnesota Vikings promoted LB Brandon Watts to the 53-man roster and placed CB Jabari Price on injured reserve as part of a series of roster moves Tuesday.

In a series of Tuesday roster moves, the Minnesota Vikings promoted linebacker Brandon Watts from the practice squad, placed cornerback Jabari Price on injured reserve and made a few practice squad moves.

Center John Sullivan, whose chances to play again this season after a second back surgery were described as “minimal” by head coach Mike Zimmer, was not among the moves made.

Watts played in two games last year after being selected in the seventh round, but was placed on the practice squad at the start of the 2015 season.

Price started the 2015 season with a two-game suspension and hadn’t been active on game days this year.

With Watts promoted from the practice squad, the Vikings also released receiver Donte Foster, opening two spots on the practice squad.

Those were filled by bringing back fullback Blake Renaud, who was with the team in the offseason, and signing linebacker Terrance Plummer, a rookie out of Central Florida.

Plummer went undrafted this year but signed with the Washington Redskins after the draft. He finished third on the Redskins with 12 tackles during the preseason. He started their season on the practice squad, was promoted to the active roster for three games before being waived on Oct. 5. He recorded one special teams tackle in his three games active.
