Anthony Barr returns to practice, but linebacker unit still a question for Minnesota Vikings

Teddy Bridgewater and Anthony Barr practiced Friday and are listed as questionable, but Eric Kendricks is doubtful.

While Teddy Bridgewater continued to practice Friday, he hadn't fully cleared the concussion protocol, according to the Minnesota Vikings, and wasn’t available to speak with reporters after practice. He is listed as questionable on the injury report, but head coach Mike Zimmer was confident Bridgewater would play.

However, the Vikings might be without one of the beast young players on the defensive side of the ball.

Rookie middle linebacker Eric Kendricks was attending practice for the third straight day, but he didn’t appear to be participating much for the third straight day as he deals with a rib injury that kept him out of last Sunday’s game. He was listed as doubtful on the injury report, although he said he will travel to Oakland.

Without Audie Cole, who started for Kendricks last week before breaking his ankle in the fourth quarter, Chad Greenway is expected to get the call to duty at middle linebacker, a position he filled late against the St. Louis Rams when Cole was lost for the season.

“They all have to know those positions anyway. He's got a gap and the alignment is a little bit different, but that's about it,” Zimmer said. “It's not earth-shattering.”

Brandon Watts, called up from the practice squad at the end of the October as the linebacker injuries started to mount, was taking Greenway’s spot on the weak side.

“He's doing good. He's been around here now for two years, so he knows what's going on and he had a good preseason,” Zimmer said of Watts.

Strongside linebacker Anthony Barr, who is dealing with a hand injury, was back in the practice lineup Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday and is listed as questionable, along with cornerback Marcus Sherels (shoulder).

Defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd, who has missed the last three games with ankle and knee injuries, continued to practice Friday, as did cornerback Terence Newman (concussion). They are both listed as probable, along with DT Linval Joseph (foot), DE Brian Robison (ankle) and Cordarrelle Patterson (shoulder).
