Harrison Smith, Trae Waynes declared out for Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings downgraded Harrison Smith and Trae Waynes to out on Saturday.

Harrison Smith and Trae Waynes were downgraded to out on Saturday after being declared questionable on Friday's injury report.

Smith suffered a knee injury in the Minnesota Vikings' game against the Green Bay Packers last Sunday,  but was holding out hope on Friday that he would be able to play after returning to practice on a limited basis. However, he said he would leave it up to the medical staff and coaches to make the final determination. With backup safety Robert Blanton dealing with an injury, too, it could lead to the the first start for Antone Exum.

Waynes suffered an ankle injury in Thursday's practice and didn't practice on Friday. That could mean the season debut of Josh Robinson in a backup role as the fourth cornerback.
