Harrison Smith returns; Linval Joseph, Andrew Sendejo sit

Harrison Smith returned to practice on a limited basis, but the Minnesota Vikings defense was missing two starters.

Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith returned to practice on Wednesday after missing Sunday’s game with a knee injury, but said he couldn’t say whether he will be ready to play against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday.

Smith was limited in practice, as was linebacker Anthony Barr, who is dealing with hand and groin injuries.

Two Vikings missed practice – NT Linval Joseph (foot) and safety Andrew Sendejo (knee). Sendejo was knocked out of Sunday’s game with the injury, leaving the Vikings with two backup safeties.

Asked if there was a chance Sendejo and Smith could play on Sunday, head coach Mike Zimmer had a quip to avoid answering the injury questions he cringes at.

“There’s a chance if I lose 100 pounds I could be a jockey,” he said. “… I’ve always wanted to be. Riding those triple-crown winners would be pretty fun.”
