Adrian Peterson, defensive starters all active

Mike Zimmer elected to make Adrian Peterson and all his recovering defenders active for Sunday night’s game.

Faced with submitting his inactive list of players before the Arizona Cardinals had completely knocked off the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer elected to play all of the significant players on Friday’s injury report.

Adrian Peterson (ankle) wasn’t a full participant in practice last week until Friday, and that was also the case with LB Anthony Barr (knee), DT Linval Joseph (foot) and DE Everson Griffen (shoulder). S Harrison Smith (knee/hamstring) was limited all week in practices

All of them are active and expected to start Sunday night against the New York Giants, and the Vikings need the win to guarantee themselves a playoff spot.

All of the injured Vikings were listed as probable on Friday’s final injury report, but Zimmer admitted earlier in the week he would consider making players that were “iffy” inactive, depending on the landscape of Sunday’s afternoon games.

In addition to the aforementioned injured players, the Vikings also had TE Rhett Ellison (ankle), CB Josh Robinson (concussion), WR Charles Johnson (ankle) and RB Jerick McKinnon (hamstring) listed on the injury report last week, with all but Ellison making back to full participation by Friday.

Inactive for the Vikings are QB Taylor Heinicke, WR Johnson, CB Robinson, LB Brandon Watts, C Nick Easton, T Jeremiah Sirles and DE Zach Moore.

The Giants made WR Geremy Davis, CB Jayron Hosley, S Cooper Taylor, LB Devon Kennard, OL Adam Gettis, OL Emmett Cleary, DE Stansly Maponga inactive.
