Zimmer spent five seasons as the Bengals’ defensive coordinator and it was his last job before being named as the Vikings head coach in 2014. The Vikings also have multiple players on their roster that followed Zimmer over from the Bengals, including cornerback Terence Newman, linebacker Emmanuel Lamur and offensive tackle Andre Smith.
The Vikings will find themselves on the road during the second week of the preseason as well. They will be traveling to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks were the final team the Vikings faced during the 2015 season, which ended in a playoff loss for the Vikings.
Even though it is the preseason, you can be sure the Vikings will be looking for a little revenge as that loss was a game they should have won.
The Vikings will make their home debut at the newly constructed U.S. Bank Stadium in the third week of the preseason, on Sunday, August 28 at noon. They will be playing against the San Diego Chargers and it will be the first time fans will get to experience an NFL game in the state-of-the-art complex – multiple concerts and a soccer game are scheduled to be held in the stadium beforehand.
The Vikings preseason is scheduled to wrap up on Thursday, September 1 when the Los Angeles Rams come to town. It will be the first time that the L.A. Rams come to Minnesota since 1991 since the team has been calling St. Louis home since 1995.
All the Vikings' preseason games will be aired locally on KMSP Fox 9 TV. While the dates of the final two games are set, the first two have yet to be finalized.
