Organized team activities are just a starting point and some players are bound to ascend or descend on the depth chart as the summer progresses, but last week gave us a glimpse at the original depth chart.
No, there isn’t an official depth chart being put out by the Minnesota Vikings, but the eyes on practice are more telling anyways.
Rookie receiver Laquon Treadwell was limited last week but likely wouldn’t have been immediately inserted in the starting lineup anyways. So who were the top receivers?
http://www.scout.com/nfl/vikings/story/1673745-what-is-the-viking-way The offensive line is probably going to see players tried at different spots and different levels of the depth chart throughout OTAs, minicamp and training camp, but for now the surprise was Joe Berger as the starting center and John Sullivan taking second-team reps. On the Vikings’ official roster, Berger is listed as a guard, while Zac Kerin is listed as a center but got some work as a second-team guard. With Phil Loadholt back, free agent Andre Smith was relegated to second-team right tackle, although he could get some reps working with the first team in the near future.
Here is our view in patching together the pieces of the puzzle, from who was getting the most reps with each level of the depth chart and taking into consideration those who were simply there as injury fill-ins.
