Got no plans a week from Thursday when the Minnesota Vikings play the Artists Formerly Known as the St. Louis Rams?
Has a Minneapolis hotel got a deal for you.
The Hotel Ivy, 201 S. 11th St. in Minneapolis, is bringing Minnesota into the opulent NFL experience of tailgating extremes for those willing to enjoy the full-on lifestyle of moving and shaking prior to a fourth preseason game.
The package includes four rooms – three rooms for the lesser guests and a 1,900 square-foot with that new penthouse smell for the person who swiped the credit card. Included in the package are three bottles of Dom Perignon, a “generous” food and liquor credit and six tickets on the 40-yard line for the much-anticipated Vikings-Rams tilt.
During the regular season, Hotel Ivy will offer more affordable options for the casual – a $5,000 one-night stay in the giant penthouse (no more guarantees made for the “new penthouse smell”) as part of the Penthouse Tailgate Package. It includes a bottle of Dom Perignon and a food/beverage voucher for $1,500. As for tickets, guests will be left to their own devices to get those.
Minnesota has been kind of late to the party when it comes to high-end luxury when it comes to the opulent fan experience, but, as crazy as it may seem to some to spend that kind of money to tailgate prior to a game, it’s the way of the landscape in the modern NFL. If the high rollers are willing to spend the big money to make the game experience memorable, there will be places out there to fill that need.
The days of grilling burgers and brats aren’t over – the Vikings worked hard to make sure that tailgate lots would remain a facet of the new stadium. For those with the disposal income and inclination to be a heavy hitter when it comes to the party experience of game day, the over-the-top options will be available to the fan who has everything…or really wants to impress his friends.
