Counting snaps: Minnesota Vikings vs. Tennessee Titans

The Minnesota Vikings nickel defenders earned their time on Sunday.

While the Minnesota Vikings trailed much of the first half of Sunday’s 25-16 win over the Tennessee Titans, the nickel defenders got plenty of action.

The Vikings defense was on the field for four more plays than the offense. Nickel back Captain Munnerlyn had nine more snaps than base linebacker Chad Greenway, showing the Titans tried to spread out the Vikings more often than not.

Most of those in the back seven on defense got full-time duty, with safeties Andrew Sendejo and Harrison Smith, CB Trae Waynes and LBs Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks playing all 67 snaps on defense.

Offensively, the starting five linemen and QB Shaun Hill played all 63 snaps, with TE Kyle Rudolph getting 58 and WR Stefon Diggs 56 (they were also the team’s two leading receivers).
