Minnesota Vikings injury report: Rhodes returns

Among a rash of injuries that have taken some of the bigger names out of the lineup, the Minnesota Vikings got at least some good news on Wednesday.

With RB Adrian Peterson (knee) headed for surgery and Matt Kalil (hip) placed on injured reserve – and both of them headed for surgery – the Minnesota Vikings saw the return of CB Xavier Rhodes (knee) to practice on Wednesday, along with TE MyCole Pruitt (knee).

Both were limited in Wednesday’s practice. Rhodes has missed the first two games of the season and recently shed the brace that was on his knee.

However, a few other key players were added to the injury report from last week. TE Kyle Rudolph (groin), LB Eric Kendricks (ankle) and DE Danielle Hunter (knee) were all limited on Wednesday.

DT Sharrif Floyd remained out with a knee injury after missing the Week 2 game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.

With Peterson out, it’s worth noting that Jerick McKinnon, whom head coach Mike Zimmer said on Wednesday would start this Sunday, was on the injury report with a toe injury, along with FB Zach Line, but both were full participants on Wednesday.

The Carolina Panthers are also dealing with an injury that is expected to keep their starting running back out. Jonathan Stewart is dealing with a hamstring injury and didn’t practice on Wednesday. DT Kawaan Short (shoulder) was the other key injured player that didn’t practice.
