Minnesota Vikings have 3 receivers on injury report

The Minnesota Vikings could be getting Stefon Diggs back in the lineup, but he is among three receivers on their injury report.

In their game prior to the bye week, the Minnesota Vikings had four players on offense – starters Stefon Diggs and Andre Smith and contributing backups David Morgan and Rhett Ellison – listed as either doubtful or out.

A bye week can do a lot to refresh and heal those with ailments, but the Vikings still have four offensive players on their Friday injury report, even if the names have changed slightly.

Smith was placed on injured reserve and Jake Long was signed to take his place, at least as a backup offensive tackle, but Ellison and Morgan are on track to play two weeks later as the Vikings return to action in Philadelphia against the sixth-ranked defense in the NFL.

Diggs appears ready to go, too.

Diggs was limited on Wednesday and Thursday but was a full participant on Friday, another sign that he could play Sunday. A groin injury has placed him on the injury report for the last month. The Houston Texans game before the bye was the only action he missed, but his production in the previous two games slipped dramatically as he dealt with the injury – 87 yards combined in the two games after compiling 285 yards in his first two games.

Diggs’ availability is even more important with WR Jarius Wright (ankle) listed as doubtful and being limited in practices all week. Rookie WR Laquon Treadwell has also been limited all week with a thumb injury and is listed as questionable along with Diggs.

The only two players that haven’t practiced all week – DT Sharrif Floyd and TE MyCole Pruitt – are the ones listed as out for Sunday against the Eagles.

As for Long, it appears he might be relegated to a backup in his first game as a Viking after signing on Oct. 11, but at least it provides some experienced depth at tackle, something the Vikings haven’t had since Smith’s triceps injury against the New York Giants on Oct. 3, one that eventually had him placed on injured reserve the same day that Long was signed.
