After starting guard Alex Boone and starting middle linebacker Eric Kendricks both missed the Detroit Lions game with concussions, both were back on the practice field Wednesday and full participants, signaling both of them being ready for action Sunday against the Washington Redskins.
But while those two are expected to return to action, the Minnesota Vikings were without two key defenders on Wednesday. Nose tackle Linval Joseph, who has been playing at a very high level recently, didn’t practice because of a shoulder injury, and nickel cornerback Captain Munnerlyn was out with an ankle injury he suffered on the Lions’ first drive on Sunday.
In addition to those two, punt returner Marcus Sherels remains out with an ankle injury and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd has continued to miss practice with a knee injury that has kept him out since Week 2.
Backup offensive lineman Zac Kerin returned to practice on a limited basis with a hand injury that has kept him out the last two weeks.
Several others were also listed on the injury report but were full participants, including RB Jerick McKinnon, who has been dealing with an ankle injury for three weeks.
“Jerick was probably a tad gimpy last week, but there are other ways,” head coach Mike Zimmer said when asked about a running back-by committee approach. “… Getting McKinnon the ball some doesn't necessarily have to be handing it to him.”
