Perhaps Cordarrelle Patterson knew he was in for a big-play game.
The Minnesota Vikings receiver and kickoff return man had one of the biggest plays of the game with a 104-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the second half in a 30-24 Vikings win, but he caught the attention of some before the game even started.
Patterson showed up for Sunday’s pregame warmups on the field with a pair of socks that featured his own picture on them.
“Oh you’ve seen those? I might have to do that every week,” Patterson said.
If that’s what brings him good luck, then good luck to him.
He tied the franchise record with his fifth kickoff return for a touchdown and he now owns three of top four longest kickoff returns in Vikings history, including one that will never be broken, a 109-yard return. He also set the record for the most games with at least 100 yards in kickoff returns after getting his 13th such game.
He almost forgot to wear the socks.
“I do like those socks. I’ve had them for like four months; I just always forgot them,” he said. “Last night I was just packing and knew I had to pack them.”
Patterson has long been a fan of fashion, as he showed up for his draft day in a flashy tuxedo and goes by the nickname “Flash.” His Twitter handle is @ceeflashpee84.
