Stefon Diggs returns to Minnesota Vikings practice, but key defenders still out

Stefon Diggs returned to practice for the Minnesota Vikings, but the defensive side of the ball remained depleted on Monday.

The Minnesota Vikings got some good news for their sputtering offense. Leading receiver Stefon Diggs returned to practice on a limited basis Monday after not practicing on Sunday as the Vikings prepare for their second straight Thursday night game.

This time, the Vikings will facing the Dallas Cowboys, who, while they are 10-1 with a formidable offense, do have the 31st-ranked pass defense in the NFL. The return of Diggs, who has 67 catches for 747 yards and an 11.1-yard average, could help the chances of an offense that is ranked last in the NFL overall and 24th in the passing game.

Diggs and MLB Eric Kendricks (hip) were the only players among the seven that missed Sunday’s practice that returned in at least a limited basis on Monday. Diggs was inactive for last Thursday’s game against the Detroit Lions and Kendricks was limited in that game to a part-time role. Kendricks walked off the field after stretching with the rest of the non-participating players on Monday, but apparently returned to practice, officially listed as limited on the injury report.

Still sitting out on Monday were C Joe Berger (concussion), CB Captain Munnerlyn (ankle), S Harrison Smith (ankle), DT Sharrif Floyd (knee) and punt returner Marcus Sherels (rib).

QB Sam Bradford was added to the injury report for the first time this season with an ankle injury, but he practiced on a limited basis and was making his usual amount of throws before the team portion of practice.

In addition to Bradford, Diggs and Kendricks, also limited on Monday were CB Mackensie Alexander (groin), T Jeremiah Sirles (hip) and CB Terence Newman (neck).

Meanwhile, LB Chad Greenway wasn’t at practice either. He has been waiting for the birth of his fourth child.
