Sam Bradford back on Minnesota Vikings injury report

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford was on Wednesday’s injury report with an ailment to his throwing shoulder, but four starters were completely held out of practice.

On a day that Adrian Peterson returned to practice, the Minnesota Vikings added quarterback Sam Bradford to the injury report with a right shoulder injury that limited him in Wednesday’s practice.

Bradford was limited in the first two days of preparation two weeks ago with an ankle injury but was a full participant on the final day of preparation and not even declared questionable. Since becoming the Vikings’ starter in Week 2, Bradford hasn’t missed a start.

While the injury to Bradford isn't likely to keep him out of Sunday’s game with the Colts, Indianapolis QB Andrew Luck was held out of Wednesday’s practice with right shoulder and right elbow injuries.

Chief among the Vikings’ starters that didn’t practice at all on Wednesday was safety Harrison Smith, whom head coach Mike Zimmer said could possibly play this Sunday, despite a report last week that Smith could be out several weeks.

“There’s a possibility, yeah. Even though the report was erroneous before, but he’s doing good,” Zimmer said.

Smith suffered an ankle injury against the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 1 yet still played all but one snap in that game. He left the locker room following that game with a walking boot and the use of crutches and didn’t play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

However, Smith has been at the practice facility this week without a boot on and seemingly walking without a limp.

In addition to Smith not practicing on Wednesday, guard Brandon Fusco, who suffered a concussion on Sunday, wasn’t practicing, but center Joe Berger, who missed Sunday’s game with his own concussion, was back at practice on a limited basis trying to give it a go. He practiced on a limited basis last Wednesday but wasn’t able to clear the concussion protocol then and was held out of Sunday’s game.

The final two players missing on Wednesday were cornerback Trae Waynes, who left Sunday’s game with a concussion, and wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, who left with an ankle injury on the first special teams play of the game.
