Most likely destinations for Adrian Peterson in free agency

The Minnesota Vikings didn’t pick up Adrian Peterson’s option year for 2017, so where will he end up? Las Vegas has spoken.

With Adrian Peterson likely to at least test the free agent market, which opens March 9, after the Minnesota Vikings announced they weren’t exercising the 2017 option on his $18 million contract this year, where are the most likely destinations for him?

He tweeted about the “interesting moves” the New York Giants were making after they released running back Rashad Jennings, and numerous other teams have been speculated as being potential fits for him, including the Houston Texans because he lives there in the offseason and the Dallas Cowboys because of his love for the Cowboys growing up and owner Jerry Jones’ love for Peterson.

But what’s realistic?

According to the Las Vegas bookmaker Bovada.lv, Peterson’s return to the Vikings on a reduced contract is about as likely as anything, with only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers getting better odds to land to Peterson.

Here are the odds for where Peterson will wind up for Week 1 of the 2017 regular season, according to Bovada:

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers:  3/1
  • Minnesota Vikings:  5/1
  • New York Giants:  5/1
  • Kansas City Chiefs: 5/1
  • Carolina Panthers: 7/1
  • New England Patriots: 8/1
  • Green Bay Packers: 10/1
  • Washington Redskins: 10/1
  • Oakland Raiders: 12/1
  • Seattle Seahawks: 14/1
  • Philadelphia Eagles:  20/1
