Following the win over the Bears, Mike Tice mentioned D'Wayne Bates in his injury roundup, saying the wide receiver had a sprained right foot that "doesn't look too serious."
That prognosis may have changed Wednesday, as Bates missed practiced, underwent an MRI on his ailing foot and watched the end of practice wearing a protective boot on his foot.
Results of the MRI are expected today, but Bates is far from the probable he's listed on the current injury report. If he can't start, either Kelly Campbell or Nate Burleson will start in his place.
* Seeing as Tice is a slave to history, he may want to give Campbell the start. Last year at Ford Field, Campbell caught two touchdown passes in the Vikings win.
* In other injury news, the Vikings listed safety Jack Brewer (chest) as out, RB Doug Chapman (ankle) as questionable and CB Corey Chavous (knee) as probable.
* On the Lions injury list, both WR Az-Zahir Hakim (knee) and LB James Davis (ribs) are listed as questionable.
* What a difference not throwing an interception can make. Daunte Culpepper has a QB ranking of 114.4 through two games -- the highest ranking in the NFL.
Bates Injury Worse Than Thought?
