Bennett Downgraded

RB Michael Bennett was expected to carry a big load for the offense Sunday. Now it looks like he may not play.

Michael Bennett has been through a lot in 2003. A twisted ankle last Sunday might be the latest to ground the Vikings' speed back.

Bennett didn't practice Friday and has been downgraded from probable to questionable in the team's injury report. In NFL terms, that means it's about 50-50 that Bennett plays.

Regardless of whether he plays or not, the number of his carries is likely to be reduced. Moe Williams, who practiced Friday with a knee injury of his own, will start Sunday if Bennett can't go.

* The RB to keep an eye on Sunday is Onterrio Smith. Rested since Bennett's return, he is the only RB in the featured back rotation that isn't injured.
* LB Chris Claiborne was downgraded to questionable Friday with an Achilles injury. The team is practicing as though he can't go Sunday. Henri Crockett has taken his spot in practice.
* In a worst-case playoff scenario where the Vikings would lose Sunday and the Packers would win, the Vikings would still be in control of the tie-breakers. Green Bay is done with NFC opponents and, for a tie-breaker to favor the Packers, the Vikings would have to lose to both Chicago and Arizona.
