Tate a Nickel Again
Eric Kelly appears to have taken over at right cornerback for Robert Tate, who saw limited action against New Orleans because of a shoulder injury. Tate saw time at nickel back against the Lions.
Vikings coach Dennis Green said Tate is coming along, but expressed some concern about Tate's ability to play a regular role against Green Bay.
"The key thing is, does he have the ability to play on base defense?" Green said. "(The Packers) are a team that will run the ball very well. They believe in the fast-back type approach. All the guys are going to have to be tacklers. We like the progress Robert is making; he played in nickel (against Detroit) and was effective in doing it. I think he will do the same thing this week, but I don't think we will play him in base."
