The Vikings were well represented Thursday when the NFL announced its Pro Bowl team for the 2003 season. Four players -- Daunte Culpepper, Randy Moss, Matt Birk and Corey Chavous -- were named to the squad.
For Moss, it's his fifth selection in six years -- fans recall he was a bit miffed in 2001 when he wasn't selected. For Birk, it's his third pick, Culpepper's second and the first for Chavous.
* LB Chris Claiborne has been ruled out for Saturday's game.
* Michael Bennett missed practice Thursday, but coach Mike Tice still expects him to start Saturday.
* Former Vikings security guard Brent Griffith was sentenced to three years probation for his identity theft conviction on getting credit cards in Bennett's name. VU reported on this story two months ago, when we said a deal had been worked out through attorneys. While the Twin Cities media reported the decision, what wasn't mentioned was that, if there are no reoccurances in the next three years, Griffith's felony charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor and he will be eligible to return to police work again.
