The NFL includes several festvities as part of Super Bowl week, but perhaps none are as important or as remembered as the announcement of the new class of the league's Hall of Fame.
The official announcement is expected within the next 24 hours and two Vikings greats -- Carl Eller and Jim Marshall -- await word if this will be the year they are called to the Hall.
As always, the biggest problem they will face is not having won a Super Bowl title. Of the 15 finalists, only Marshall, Eller and RB Barry Sanders never won a Super Bowl. Sanders, by virtue of his unique running style and gamebreaking ability is a shoo-in for the Hall on his first ballot -- as is QB John Elway.
Whether or not Marshall or Eller get inducted this year, next year or not at all, they're Hall of Famers in our book and their numbers should speak for themselves, instead of the number of Super Bowl rings they were able to accumulate.
Will Eller, Marshall Get H.O.F. Call?
