There were two general schools of thought when the Patriots signed Vince Wilfork, the 21st pick in the draft, early Monday morning. It meant that a slot had been created for the money the 20th pick could expect. The problem was that the amount Wilfork signed for was considerably more than the 21st pick in the 2003 draft received, which had some thinking the Vikings could play hardball with the numbers like they did with Bryant McKinnie two years ago.
But Thomas Barnes, Udeze's brother and agent, said Monday he anticipates no snags in getting the contract signed and Udeze in camp in time.
VU has been told the two sides spoke at some length last week and hammered out most of the details to premilinarily move on in contract discussions. Talks are scheduled to resume later this week and the hope is that it will be finalized early next week.
* As expected, tickets for the most popular games on the 2004 schedule officially sold out Saturday when they went on single-ticket sale at the Metrodome. Games vs. the Packers, Bears, Cowboys and Titans all sold out and less than 250 tickets remain for all but the Jaguars game.
Agent: Udeze Won't Be Holdout
