Laces Out, Eddie

The Vikings filled their final roster vacancy with two signings Friday, including a replacement for punter Eddie Johnson, who was handed his release.

With less than a week until players report to training camp, the Vikings filled out their roster but not in the way they intended.

While the team finally made the signing of Ryan Hoag, 2003's Mr. Irrelevant, official, it also made a change at punter.

There was little to no chance that last year's punter Eddie Johnson would make the team after the Vikings signed veteran Darren Bennett, but he was injured during off-season workouts and the Vikings needed a punter to provide training camp competition.

Although not pleased about it, coach Mike Tice announced that Johnson was released and former South Dakota University punter Filip Filipovich was signed.

With the release of Johnson and signing of Hoag and Filipovich, the Vikings are at their full complement of roster spots available.
