Two More Down, Two To Go

If we had a better shot of Darrion Scott, we'd go with that. In lieu, the Vikes are where they thought they'd be -- two days and two starters away from being a complete training-camp squad.

The Vikings kept pace with the rest of the NFL Thursday, agreeing to terms with third-round pick Darrion Scott and fourth-rounder Nat Dorsey.

While Scott fills a more immediate need -- a DE that can pressure Quincy Carter and Donovan McNabb while Kenny Mixon is on suspension, Dorsey may well fill a more important long-term need.

With Mike Rosenthal considered at this point as not on a long-term basis, Dorsey fits in as a right tackle of the future. If Mike Tice is convinced that Rosenthal can be a long-term solution at RT, Dorsey can become the heir to David Dixon's right guard slot.

As the clock ticks down to the opening of training camp, things seem to be ticking as projected.

* VU has been told that talks with the top two unsigned picks -- Kenechi Udeze and Dontarrious Thomas -- are progressing and both should be signed within the next 24 hours.
