Minnesota is known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, but last night it was the Land of 10,000 Fans Willing to Spend $12 To Watch a Scrimmage.
It was unclear how many fans were going to show up for the team's intrasquad scrimmage at the National Sports Center in Blaine. But once they started coming, it didn't stop. In all 10,000 people attended.
For the record, the defense won the scrimmage again despite being badly undermanned at the cornerback spot by a 31-25 score.
* Daunte Culpepper looked sharp in the scrimmage -- completing 14 of 18 passes for 143 yards, including all eight of his passes on his first drive that finished with a TD pass to Sean Berton.
* The 49ers are having their own share of injury woes -- not what a team undergoing an overhaul needs. Quarterback Tim Rattay may see his first action of the preseason Friday, but likely won't have backup Ken Dorsey available. While Rattay has been suffering from groin and forearm problems, Dorsey has gone down with bulging disks in his back.
