In an attempt to help fill the team's depleted roster at key positions, the Vikings announced a pair of roster moves Tuesday.
The team signed linebacker Max Yates and CB Rhett Nelson to the practice squad. It is expected that when Onterrio Smith's appeal is heard and likely upheld, Yates will take his spot on the 53-man roster.
To make room for the signings, the Vikings released rookie CB Deandre Eiland and tight end J.P. Foschi from the practice squad. When and if Yates is promoted to the 53-man roster, one of them may be re-signed.
* Daunte Culpepper earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after throwing for 360 yards and two touchdowns with a 127.1 passer rating against Chicago. He won the award in Week 1 after throwing five touchdowns against Dallas. He has won the award five times in his career.
