The Titans are stuck wondering if Randy Moss will play or not, while the Vikings feel secure in Daunte Culpepper's abilities either way. Get the matchups to watch in Sunday's showdown.
VIKINGS GAME PLAN
The Vikings will put the ball in QB Daunte Culpepper's hands and expect him to carry them for the third consecutive week. He has two consecutive games with five touchdown passes and is coming off a career-high 425 yards passing. Even if Moss doesn't play, Culpepper can distribute the ball to WRs Marcus Robinson (five touchdowns) and Nate Burleson (16.9-yard average) and RB Mewelde Moore (21 catches).
MATCHUPS TO WATCH
Vikings secondary vs. Titans QB Steve McNair. The Vikings finally recorded their first interception of the season when CB Antoine Winfield picked off Aaron Brooks last week. McNair, a co-MVP last season, is having an off year. He is completing 57.5 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and six interceptions.
Vikings K Morten Andersen vs. Titans K Gary Anderson. Andersen, 44, and former Vikings K Gary Anderson, 45, meet at the Metrodome for the first time since the 1998 NFC title game. Anderson's perfect season ended with a missed field goal, enabling Andersen to kick the game-winner as Atlanta upset the Vikings. It's the NFL's No. 1 career scorer (Anderson) vs. the No. 2 career scorer (Andersen).
Vikings WRs Marcus Robinson and Nate Burleson vs. Titans CBs Samari Rolle and Andre Dyson. Even if the Vikings don't rest Moss, his hamstring probably will limit him to the red zone offense only. That creates more opportunities for Robinson and Burleson, who thrived without Moss in the second half against New Orleans when Moss was out because of his strained right hamstring. Rolle and Dyson each have one interception and four passes defensed.
TITANS GAME PLAN
Hang on. The Titans need to do whatever they can to stay even or stay close to the Vikings, whose high-powered pass attack can put Tennessee behind in a hurry. The Titans need to make a defensive stand early and establish RB Chris Brown so they can try to have an impact on the rhythm of the game and eat up some clock with long drives. They could see WR Randy Moss on only a limited basis as he's recovering from a hamstring strain, but the Titans top CB Samari Rolle said it may be tougher to figure out the Vikings if they don't have Moss in the equation.
MATCHUPS TO WATCH
Titans CB Samari Rolle vs. WR Randy Moss. Rolle knows it's a tough assignment, but because teams throw away from his side of the field so often, he is anxious to play in a game where he gets challenged by the best.
Titans run defense vs. RB Mewelde Moore. Safeties Tank Williams and Lamont Thompson are likely to be late arrivals in run support as they stay deep to help defend the deep ball.
Titans punt return team vs. Darren Bennett. Bennett's 33.5 net average is bad, but so is the Titans' return game. How about the potential for a block?
