The Senior Bowl will be played this weekend down in Mobile, but, for coaches like Mike Tice, the work is already finished. Like several other coaches, Tice saw what he needed to during the practice sessions and, if personal attention means anything, look for the Vikings to be paying attention to defense in April's college draft.
During his first two days at the Senior Bowl practices, Tice personally oversaw workouts for linebackers and defensive backs. In the final sessions, he moved to overseeing the linemen -- both offensive and defensive.
It's unclear what the Vikings' current plan is for free agency, since Red McCombs has been rather cryptic about all things purple. But, if Tice's actions mean anything, it looks like the first day of the draft will once again be dedicated to the defensive side of the ball.
