The focus of the local fans and media for the past few weeks has been centered on the status of Randy Moss and the status of the sale of the Vikings. But, to prove that day-to-day work is still going on at Winter Park, the Vikings announced the signing of Rich Olson as their new quarterbacks coach.
Olson worked in the same capacity last year with the 49ers after spending the previous two seasons as offensive coordinator with the Cardinals.
Despite Olson's signing, the plan is for new offensive coordinator Steve Loney to call plays -- with the two likely sharing those duties in the Red Zone.
While former Lions assistant Kevin Higgins lost out on the QB coach job, he could still end up on the Vikings staff. He has interviewed for the open receivers coach position -- which could be named as early as later this week.
