Rumors, Names Still Flying

As the first week of free agency gets nearer to an end, the free agent names continue to circulate as rumors of who might be coming continue to swirl.

In the days that have passed since the announcement and subsequent confirmation of the Randy Moss trade, there has been no shortage of rumors concerning who may or may not be coming. As the league gears up for another busy free agent work week, here is what we know.

VU has been told that the agent for WR Travis Taylor has informed the Vikings that his client is willing to work for a less-than-market contract with incentives because he believes he can excel with Daunte Culpepper at the wheel. We've been told that prelimary talks have taken place to determine how much Plaxico Burress would cost and a potential trade with the Redskins for Rod Gardner. There has also been calls made inquiring about Michael Bennett -- who remains on the trading block.

While questions over the ownership remain up in the air, there are no shortages of rumors to be had. As always, VU will try to sift through them as best we can and keep the real separated from the imagined.

* With TE Jermaine Wiggins still testing the market, the Vikings have prepared to move on in the event he doesn't return. Cardinals free agent Freddie Jones is scheduled to visit Winter Park Tuesday and plans have been made for Seahawks TE Itula Mili to visit as well.
* Gus Frerotte will be meeting with the Dolphins this week and the word VU is hearing is that many at Winter are convinced he will end up signing with the Dolphins.
