TFY Draft Prospect Profile: C.J. Mosley

What do the experts think about defensive tackle C.J. Mosley and how he projects to the NFL.

C.J. Mosley School: Missouri
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 314 40: 5.10 Year: 4Jr

Bio: All-Conference selection after posting 61/14/ 6.5 as a junior. Sophomore totals included 67/16/6 after 41/8/3 as a freshman when he started five games.

Positives: Explosive interior tackle with good movement skills. Plays low to the ground with leverage, quickly changes direction and fluid moving laterally. Forceful up the field, resilient and keeps coming. Technically sound getting off blocks, nicely redirects to the action and covers a lot of area on the field. Gets off the ball with an exceptional first step.

Negatives: Slow shedding blocks and handled by a single opponent or moved off the line. Possesses only a short-area burst of speed which he cannot sustain. Tends to put his head down and bull-rush up the field. Slow locating the ball and over pursues the action.

Analysis: Sized well in the middle of the line, Mosley effectively stuffs the run or rushes the passer. Makes plays in all directions of the field yet must improve his playing strength and physically mature before he can start in the NFL.
