"Oh, No! Not Kenny!" Part Deux

The Vikings got rid of one Kenny (Mixon) before the start of minicamp, but had a second Kenny walk out when Ken Irvin decided he'd seen enough of minicamp Friday.

The Vikings set a precedent with Kenny Mixon earlier this year when the team got him to reduce his contract from $3.5 million to $750,000 yet still cut him immediately after the draft. The same appears to be true at the cornerback position, where Kenny Irvin walked out of minicamp in what coach Mike Tice has termed a "contractual dispute."

Irvin, who is now listed as the No. 4 cornerback on the depth chart, is scheduled to make $1.5 million this season. That is an awful lot of money for a part-timer at best and VU has been told that the Vikings are trying to talk Irvin into a lower salary. That was the reason for the walk-out.

As of now, there is no word whether he will return to practice today or not.

* Tice was wheeling around Winter Park on a golf cart following foot surgery earlier this week. He will be in a cast for at least two more weeks.
* The Sporting News has spoken. In its post-draft issue, TSN gave two teams an A+ rating on their draft report card -- Denny Green and the Cardinals and the Vikings.
