After what VU has been told has been at least a couple of years in the making, the City of Mankato announced Friday that fans will be charged fees for events previously free.
The Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce announced that a $5 charge will be imposed for fans entering the Vikings Village -- the practice site and interactive fan area at Minnesota State, Mankato -- Sundays through Fridays and $10 on Saturdays. Children 5 and under will still get in for no charge. In addition, MSU will charge $2 per vehicle for parking.
The Vikings don't anticipate any major dropoff in attendance for the move. Most NFL teams do charge some sort of fees at training camp and history has shown little to no drop in attendance as a result.
