The question isn't if, but when running back Moe Williams will return to Minnesota, The Insiders has learned.
Williams left Minnesota following the 2000 season to play for the Baltimore Ravens. Again a free agent, he has drawn marginal interest and wants to return to the Vikings. A deal between the Vikings and Williams is expected prior to the June 1st salary cap cut date......
On the wide receiver front, the Vikings have talked with Keenan McCardell and Derrick Alexander. Their present teams have informed both players that they will be released on June 1st. Sources tell The Insiders that the Vikings like would like to sign McCardell, but the competition is expected to be fierce.
"Minnesota would love to sign McCardell, he would provide some much needed leadership, as well as a very productive player to line-up opposite Randy Moss," the source said. "Money will be a factor in the decision. McCardell is going to draw serious attention and he will bring a large salary. Derrick Alexander is a very viable option. If he can stay healthy, he is a dynamite receiver."
"Minnesota should eventually land one of these two receivers, unless this turns into a bidding war. You just never know anymore."......
Sources close to free agent offensive lineman Rich Tylski tell The Insiders that the veteran is leaning towards signing a two-year contract with the Vikings.
"Rich (Tylski) has a couple options open to him. He wants to go to a team that will give him the opportunity to play and win," the sources states. "Look for him do decide something in the next couple weeks, with Minnesota being at the top of his list."
