The NFL has announced that the Vikings-Bears game scheduled for noon Jan. 1 has been moved to 3:15 p.m. The decision was based on it being a game that could garner the most national attention.
Last week, FOX announced its plan to make the move -- moving the the Seattle-Green Bay game from 3:15 to noon. When the schedule was made, that game looked like a potential pre-playoff tune-up.
The move was made primarily due to the growing national interest in the Bears -- who have emerged from the cellar of the NFC North to be the most dominant defense in recent years. The other potential candidate for being switched to a late game was the Panthers-Falcons game. Due to its market size and the growing wonderment of the average football fan to see for themselves if the Bears are a Super Bowl contender or a smoke and mirrors team, FOX made the call on the Vikings-Bears game.
