Williamson, Fason To Get Longer Looks

While the Vikings will bring their full complement of players to the table to win Sunday's game, the team is going to give some of its rookie class a longer look.

With Sunday's game rendered meaningless by the Vikings loss Sunday night, the Bears are likely going to give some of their banged-up starters either all or part of Sunday off. While the Vikings won't be in the same position, they are going to give some of their rookies a longer look.

At his Monday press conference, Mike Tice said that young players like Troy Williamson, Ciatrick Fason, Rod Davis and Dovonte Edwards will all get an extended look Sunday.

"There are some young guys on our team that have played some roles that will probably play more significant roles," Tice said. "There are some guys we want to see against very good competition, or at least I do, against good competition to see how they fair. Some young players that we think are going to be very good players, they'll probably get some more time. Not that we are not going out and trying to win this game, I have already stated we want to win this game."

Tice added, however, that the players in question won't get full-time duty. He said the team is still going to do everything in its power to finish 9-7. To that end, Brad Johnson will get the start.

* After years of having a myriad of scenarios to determine who makes the playoffs, the 2005 playoff puzzle already has 10 of the 12 pieces in place and most of those have already locked down their position. In the NFC, the only question still to be answered is who wins the NFC East and South and whether the Cowboys can squeeze their way into the postseason dance. The same is true in the AFC, where the only question is whether the Steelers or Chiefs get the last playoff spot and whether the Bengals and Patriots finished as the Nos. 3 seeded team.
* The Vikings had only six offensive linemen Sunday and, if there had been a problem, TE Jim Kleinsasser would have been pushed into duty as the team's right tackle.
* Raonall Smith is questionable for the season finale with an abdominal injury.
* Heath Farwell had more tests done on is on sprained right MCL. He's already missed three games due to the injury.
