A new round of e-mails sent by quarterback Daunte Culpepper and "no comment" responses by the Vikings organization has re-triggered the debate on who said what regarding trade talks. While we may never be privy to everything that was said privately, we do know what head coach Brad Childress said publicly at the NFL Combine on Feb. 24.
On Feb. 23 in a statement to media, Culpepper wrote that he was assured by Vikings owner Zygi Wilf that the team hadn't been shopping him. Now Culpepper said he has confirmed that the Vikings have been seeking to trade him, which is, in part, why he wants to be traded or released.
Is there a chance the Vikings would release Culpepper, as has been speculated?
"You don ‘t ever say never at this time of year. Never and always are two long periods of time," Childress said in response to that question at the Combine.
But many of Childress' comments were interpreted differently by different media outlets, which is why we'll let you decide how to interpret what was said with our audio from the questioning on Daunte Culpepper. Click on the following audio link to listen.
