UDFA Analysis: Punter John Torp

The Vikings needed an insurance policy against Chris Kluwe's recovery from ACL surgery, and John Torp provided a nice left-footed alternative at punter. See what TFY Draft Preview had to say about him in their analysis.

Full Name: John Torp School: Colorado Pos: P

Ht: 6-1.5 Wt: 202 40: 4.73 Year: 5Sr

Bio: Moved into the starting lineup as a junior and earned All-Conference honors the past two seasons. Averaged 45.2 yards on 80 punts as a senior with a long of 72 yards. Junior totals included a 46.5-yard average on 72 punts. Had four punts of 60 yards or longer as a senior.

Pos: Big-legged punter who can flip the field. Gets outstanding hang time, driving the ball into the air, allowing coverage teams to make plays downfield. Comes through in the clutch when his team is pinned deep in its own territory. Effective directional punter.

Neg: Takes a while to get the ball off his foot. Performed terribly at the combine.

Analysis: A consistent punter the past two years, Torp could start for an NFL team if he consistently performs as he did at the Senior Bowl.
