UDFA Analysis: RB Taurean Henderson

He's one of the Vikings' most intriguing undrafted rookies this year as he seems to be a prototypical West Coast offense running back. See what TFY Draft Preview had to say about Taurean Henderson's college career and potential as an NFL player.

Full Name: Taurean Henderson School: Texas Tech Pos: RB

Ht: 5-9.5 Wt: 204 40: 4.65 Year: 4Sr

Bio: Four-year starter awarded varying degrees of All-Conference honors since his freshman campaign. Led the team in rushing as a senior, posting 148/872/17 while also totaling 67/528/5 as a receiver. Junior totals included 162/840/16 on the ground with 60/286/2 as a pass catcher. Posted a career-high 98 receptions as a freshman, then followed up with 78 the next season.

Pos: Ultra-productive ball-handler who projects as a third-down specialist in the NFL. Elusive, quick-footed and bounces around piles or defenders. Keeps the action in bounds and follows blocks anywhere on the field. Finds the running lanes, has a burst through the hole and immediately cuts back against the grain. Natural receiver who extends to make the reception away from his frame.

Neg: Slow adjusting off the initial hit, rarely picks up yardage off initial contact and not a strong ball carrier. Considered an adequate worker by NFL scouts.

Analysis: Making the most of his opportunities the past four seasons, Henderson lacks the size to be a featured ball carrier, yet should be an outstanding situational runner and receiver out of the backfield.
