Ted Cottrell has a wealth of experience that he brought to the Vikings in his short tenure as defensive coordinator. After being fired in January when Brad Childress took over the team, Cottrell has been looking for work ever since.
After being bypassed with the many coaching vacancies that came along, Cottrell may have found his gig after all -- replacing Art Shell with the league office in New York City.
Cottrell interviewed Thursday for the position of Vice President of Football Operations. The job became available when Shell took a job with the Raiders to return as their head coach.
Cottrell should know by next week if the job is his.
* No job offer has come yet for Moe Williams, who worked out for the Rams earlier this week.
* An ESPN crew has been following Onterrio Smith in his attempt to reclaim his career in the CFL for an episode of "Outside the Lines."
