Cornerback Ralph Brown, who was a contributing nickel back last season with 27 tackles, was among those not asked to re-sign.
Kicker Paul Edinger was expendable after the Vikings signed Ryan Longwell (Packers) on the first day of free agency.
QB Shaun Hill recently signed with the San Francisco 49ers, and he was never given a chance to return to the Vikings. In the meantime, the Vikings signed Mike McMahon to back up Brad Johnson, still have J.T. O'Sullivan on the roster and drafted Tarvaris Jackson at the end of the second round.
The Vikings also showed no interest in re-signing running back Moe Williams. Williams has reportedly been receiving interest from a few other teams but has not yet signed on with anyone.
Center Cory Withrow is the final Vikings unrestricted free agent this year who has yet to catch on with another team. The center had been a longtime backup to Matt Birk, but after experiencing significant playing time at the start of last season with Birk out for the year, Withrow was eventually replaced in the starting lineup by Melvin Fowler.
Neither Withrow nor Fowler are with the team now, as the Vikings believe Matt Birk will be back this year and have insurance policies in place in the form of versatile offensive lineman Jason Whittle and second-round choice Ryan Cook.
Several other former Vikings were in a similar situation late last week, having not been tendered on offer from their last team of employment.
