UDFA Analysis: LB Kyle McKenzie

While the Vikings try to figure out which of their linebackers will end up starting at which position, undrafted rookie Kyle McKenzie is simply trying to make the team. See what TFY Draft Preview had to say about the University of Minnesota product in its analysis before the draft.

Full Name: Kyle McKenzie School: Minnesota Pos: OLB

Ht: 6-0.5 Wt: 230 40: 4.67 Year: 4Sr

Bio: Three-year starter who also saw action with the first team as a freshman. Recorded 56/4/1 as a senior after leading the team with 79 tackles during his junior campaign.

Pos: Hard-working, productive linebacker who plays bigger and faster than his numbers. Smart, diagnoses the action and stays with assignments. Fast on the blitz, nicely collapses from the outside, defending the run and quickly fills gaps up the field. Can backpedal in coverage and displays skill in zone.

Neg: Slow shedding blocks at the point and gets caught up in the trash moving laterally. Lacks a quick or sudden change of direction.

Analysis: Productive on the college level, McKenzie could fit a 34 defense or one-gap system which allows linebackers to freely flow to the action.
