Brad Johnson moved up the all-time quarterbacking charts in the league while Chester Taylor and Troy Williamson were in the top-three Vikings performances in games against Washington.
The last time the Vikings played a season opener on Monday Night Football was 34 years ago, and this is only the third time in team history. Ironically, two of the three have been against Washington. All three games have been decided by three points. The Vikings defeated the Lions 16-13 on Sept. 20, 1971, lost to the Redskins 24-21 on Sept. 18, 1972 and beat them 19-16 on Monday night.
Brad Johnson ties Jack Kemp for 49th place in NFL history for most wins (65) in games started. Directly ahead of him are Jim Harbaugh, Joe Namath and Norm Van Brocklin with 66 and Billy Kilmer, Chris Chandler and Jim McMahon with 67.
With Johnson's 223 yards passing, he becomes the 47th player in NFL history to reach 26,000 yards passing.
