Record-Seekers vs. Cardinals

The Vikings had a couple of first-time happenings and other Vikings continued to rise up the team record books.

  • Brad Johnson's 271 yards passing move him into 37th place in NFL history, surpassing Ron Jaworski's 28,190. He becomes only the 38th quarterback in NFL history to reach 28,000 yards.

  • Chester Taylor's 27 rushing attempts give him a season total of nine games in which he has had 20 or more carries, a team record. He broke Chuck Foreman's mark of eight from 1975.

  • Taylor's 100-yard rushing game set a team record for most 100-yard games by a player in his first season with the Vikings, giving him four. That bettered Foreman's three 100-yard games in 1975.

  • Taylor's 66 yards rushing in the first quarter is a team record for most rushing yards in the first quarter of any Vikings game. Ted Brown (1983) held the previous record of 60 yards.

  • Jermaine Wiggins' six receptions moved him into a second-place tie for most career receptions by a Vikings tight end. He and Stu Voigt each have 177 catches, but Steve Jordan holds that record with 498 catches from 1982 to 1994.

  • The Vikings' 30 first downs rank tied for seventh-most in team history.
