Record-Seekers vs. Bears

The Vikings defense got another top-two performance in franchise history while Chester Taylor climbed into the top five in a number of offensive statistics.

  • The Vikings defense held Rex Grossman to a QB rating of 1.3, the second-lowest passer rating by an opponent's starting QB. Kim McQuilken of Atlanta had a zero rating for Atlanta in a 1975 game.

  • Jermaine Wiggins' two receptions move him into second place all-time among Vikings tight ends with 179 catches, surpassing Stu Voigt's 177. Steve Jordan leads the franchise with 498 receptions.
  • Chester Taylor's 99 yards rushing give him a total of 1,098. He sets a team record for fewest games needed to reach 1,000 yards at the start of Vikings career. His 12 games are fewer than Chuck Foreman's 15 in 1973-74 and Michael Bennett's 19 in 2001-02.

  • Taylor also becomes the first Viking to reach 1,000 yards rushing in his first season on the team. He is only the fifth Viking overall to reach 1,000 yards rushing in a season, joining Chuck Foreman, Michael Bennett, Ted Brown and Robert Smith.

  • Taylor's 18 combined scrimmage attempts (rushing and receiving), give him a season total of 303. He becomes only the fifth Viking to reach 300 combined attempts, and the first since 2000. Ted Brown leads that statistic with 357 attempts in 1981, followed Chuck Foreman's 354 in 1975, 333 in 1976, 308 in 1977, Robert Smith's 331 in 2000 and Terry Allen's 315 in 1992.

  • Ciatrick Fason rushed for his career-high 75 yards on 11 attempts.
