Record-Seekers vs. Rams

The Vikings had a couple of game and season highs in their final against the St. Louis Rams, along with other players making it into the top five in different categories.

  • Tarvaris Jackson scored his first NFL rushing touchdown. He became the first rookie QB in franchise history since Joe Kapp vs. Pittsburgh (11/26/67) to rush for a touchdown, and only the third overall. Fran Tarkenton had five as a rookie in 1961.

  • Chester Taylor's 29 yards rushing give him a season total of 1,214, making it the fourth-best in team history. He joined Robert Smith (1,521 in 2000, and 1,266 in 1997), Michael Bennett (1,296 in 2002) and Terry Allen (1,201 in 1992) to surpass 1,200 yards.

  • Taylor's 13 rushing attempts gave him 304 for the season, the most in franchise history.

  • Chris Kluwe's 50-yard punt gave him 19 punts of at least 50 yards this season, the second-most in team history. Mitch Berger had 22 such punts in 2000.

  • Kluwe's one punt inside the 20-yard line gave him 27 for the season, one short of tying the team record set by Greg Coleman in 1983 and equaled by Mike Saxon in 1994.

  • Heath Farwell's two tackles on special teams gave him 25 for the season, surpassing the team record of 24 set by Nate Allen in 1977.

  • Bethel Johnson's 225 yards in kickoff returns ranks second-most in team history to Nate Jaquet's 237 vs. Philadelphia on Nov. 11, 2001.
